Full Definition

Computed tomography perfusion (CTP) is a functional imaging technique that uses serial CT acquisitions during contrast injection to generate quantitative maps of tissue perfusion parameters including cerebral blood flow, cerebral blood volume, and mean transit time. CTP is particularly valuable in acute stroke evaluation for identifying salvageable tissue and guiding treatment decisions. The technique requires specialized post-processing software to generate parametric maps and calculate perfusion metrics. CTP findings are often integrated with other imaging modalities to provide comprehensive assessment of vascular pathology.
