Rapid wash-in typically indicates high vascularity or increased permeability, while delayed wash-in suggests compromised perfusion or dense fibrotic tissue. Mathematical modeling of wash-in curves provides quantitative perfusion parameters including time-to-peak, maximum slope, and area under the curve. These metrics are particularly valuable in oncologic imaging for assessing tumor angiogenesis and treatment response monitoring.
