Angiographic blush refers to the characteristic radiographic appearance of contrast material within the tissue capillary bed, visible on angiographic imaging as a faint, homogeneous enhancement of the tissue parenchyma. This phenomenon indicates intact microvascular circulation and is particularly important in assessing tissue viability and perfusion success following revascularization procedures. The presence, intensity, and persistence of blush provides valuable information about the functional status of the microvasculature and can predict clinical outcomes. Absence of expected blush may indicate microvascular dysfunction, no-reflow phenomenon, or tissue necrosis despite successful large vessel recanalization.
