AngioJet thrombectomy is a percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy system that utilizes the Venturi effect created by high-velocity saline jets to fragment and aspirate thrombus from blood vessels. The device operates by directing pressurized saline jets retrograde through multiple orifices in the catheter tip, creating localized low-pressure zones that break apart clot material while simultaneously providing suction for debris removal. This rheolytic technology is particularly effective for treating acute and subacute thrombosis in both arterial and venous systems. The system can also be used for thrombolytic drug delivery directly into the clot burden.
