MLD is typically measured in millimeters and serves as a primary endpoint in many clinical trials investigating interventional devices and techniques. The measurement is obtained using computer-assisted quantitative coronary angiography and provides more objective assessment than visual estimation. Changes in MLD from baseline to follow-up are used to calculate late lumen loss, an important measure of long-term vessel response to intervention.
