Dacron is a brand name for polyester (polyethylene terephthalate) synthetic graft material widely used in vascular surgery for large vessel reconstructions. This biocompatible material offers excellent handling characteristics, durability, and incorporation into surrounding tissues through ingrowth of fibrous tissue. Dacron grafts are particularly suitable for high-flow, large-diameter applications such as aortic reconstructions, and are available in woven or knitted configurations with different porosity characteristics to optimize healing and hemostasis.
