A condition characterized by excessive accumulation of reactive nitrogen species (RNS) such as nitric oxide and peroxynitrite that exceed the plant's nitrogen detoxification capacity. Nitrosative stress causes protein modification, lipid peroxidation, and disruption of cellular signaling pathways.
