An accumulation of blood within the preperitoneal space, typically resulting from bleeding associated with pelvic fractures or retroperitoneal injuries. This finding is significant in trauma evaluation as it may indicate ongoing hemorrhage requiring immediate intervention. The hematoma can be identified on CT imaging and may necessitate angiographic evaluation or surgical exploration depending on the patient's hemodynamic status and associated injuries.
