NOTAM stands for Notice to Airmen (now formally rebranded by ICAO as Notice to Air Missions). It is an official notice distributed via telecommunication containing information about the establishment, condition, or change of any aeronautical facility, service, procedure, or hazard that is essential to operational personnel. NOTAMs are time-critical and time-bounded, and editors must ensure that dates, times (expressed in UTC), and identifiers are reproduced exactly as issued. In editorial contexts, NOTAM is rendered in all capitals and never as 'Notam' or 'notam'.

Usage note: Always rendered in full capitals: NOTAM. The plural is NOTAMs (not NOTAM's). The older expansion 'Notice to Airmen' may appear in legacy documents.
