Valve-sparing aortic root replacement procedure that preserves the patient's native aortic valve while replacing the aortic root.

Full Definition

Valve-sparing aortic root replacement (VSARR) is a surgical technique that replaces the diseased aortic root with a synthetic graft while preserving the patient's native aortic valve leaflets. This procedure is indicated in patients with aortic root pathology but normal valve function, commonly in young patients with connective tissue disorders. The two main techniques are the David procedure (reimplantation) and Yacoub procedure (remodeling).
