Recurrence score is a numerical result from multigene assays such as Oncotype DX that quantifies the risk of distant recurrence in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. The score typically ranges from 0-100, with higher scores indicating greater recurrence risk and potential chemotherapy benefit. These genomic tests analyze expression of multiple genes involved in proliferation, invasion, and hormone receptor signaling. Recurrence scores help guide adjuvant chemotherapy decisions by identifying patients who are most likely to benefit from chemotherapy beyond endocrine therapy alone.
