Full Definition

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) is a therapeutic technique that applies controlled negative pressure to wounds through a sealed dressing system. In burn care, NPWT is used to prepare wound beds for grafting, secure newly placed grafts, and manage donor sites. The system removes excess fluid, reduces edema, and promotes granulation tissue formation while protecting the wound from contamination.
