This prevents the device from inappropriately detecting electrical artifacts, lead polarization, or T-wave oversensing that could trigger unwanted responses. Different blanking periods apply to atrial and ventricular channels, and modern devices often feature dynamic or adaptive blanking that adjusts based on patient physiology.
