Full Definition
An aortic root aneurysm involves pathological enlargement of the aortic root, including the aortic annulus, sinuses of Valsalva, and sinotubular junction. These aneurysms can be associated with aortic regurgitation and may require complex surgical procedures such as valve-sparing root replacement or composite valve-graft replacement. The condition can be congenital, degenerative, or associated with connective tissue disorders such as Marfan syndrome.

Usage note: Distinguish from isolated ascending aortic aneurysms that do not involve the root structures.
