TIMI flow
Also written as: TIMI — Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction
A standardized grading system (0-3) for assessing coronary blood flow during angiography.
Full Definition
TIMI flow is a widely used angiographic classification system that grades coronary artery perfusion on a scale from 0 to 3. TIMI 0 represents complete occlusion with no antegrade flow, TIMI 1 shows minimal contrast penetration without perfusion of the distal vessel, TIMI 2 indicates delayed or sluggish antegrade flow that fills the distal vessel, and TIMI 3 represents normal flow that fills the distal coronary bed completely. This standardized assessment is crucial for evaluating procedural success and predicting clinical outcomes.
Usage
Usage note: Always capitalize TIMI; use specific grade number (0-3) for precision.
