The STS score is a validated risk stratification algorithm developed by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons that uses patient-specific variables to predict perioperative mortality and major morbidity for cardiac surgical procedures. The scoring system incorporates factors such as age, gender, ejection fraction, comorbidities, previous cardiac surgery, and urgency of operation. Different models exist for isolated CABG, valve surgery, and combined procedures.
