Full Definition

Phase-sensitive inversion recovery is an advanced cardiac MRI technique that provides superior contrast between normal myocardium and fibrotic tissue compared to conventional late gadolinium enhancement imaging. PSIR eliminates the need for precise inversion time optimization by using phase information to automatically null normal myocardium signal. This results in consistent image quality and improved detection of subendocardial infarcts and diffuse fibrosis patterns.
