The European trial on Reduction Of cardiac events with Perindopril in stable coronary Artery disease (EUROPA) was a pivotal randomized controlled trial that established the cardiovascular protective effects of ACE inhibitors in patients with stable coronary artery disease without heart failure. Published in 2003, the study showed that perindopril significantly reduced cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and cardiac arrest.
