The Improved Reduction of Outcomes: Vytorin Efficacy International Trial (IMPROVE-IT) was a large randomized controlled trial that demonstrated the cardiovascular benefits of combination lipid-lowering therapy. The study compared simvastatin plus ezetimibe versus simvastatin alone in patients with acute coronary syndromes, showing a 6.4% relative reduction in major cardiovascular events.
