Some studies suggest particle number provides superior cardiovascular risk prediction compared to standard cholesterol measurements, particularly LDL-P versus LDL-C. However, current guidelines do not routinely recommend particle testing, as outcomes trials demonstrating clinical benefit of particle-guided therapy are lacking.
