IVUS-guided optimization is a systematic approach to percutaneous coronary intervention that uses intravascular ultrasound imaging to ensure optimal stent selection, sizing, and deployment. This technique involves pre-procedural vessel assessment to determine appropriate stent dimensions, real-time guidance during stent placement, and post-procedural evaluation to confirm adequate expansion, apposition, and coverage. IVUS-guided optimization has been shown to improve clinical outcomes by reducing stent thrombosis, restenosis, and need for repeat revascularization compared to angiography-guided procedures alone.
