IVUS morphology refers to the detailed assessment of coronary artery and plaque characteristics using intravascular ultrasound imaging. This includes evaluation of plaque composition (calcific, lipidic, fibrous), vessel dimensions, plaque burden, and the presence of high-risk features such as thin-cap fibroatheromas or plaque rupture. IVUS morphology assessment provides crucial information for interventional planning and helps identify vulnerable plaques that may be prone to future cardiac events. The grayscale appearance and acoustic properties help characterize different tissue types.

Usage note: IVUS should remain capitalized. Distinguish from other imaging modality assessments (OCT, angiography).
