NIRS-IVUS is a dual-modality intravascular imaging system that combines Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) with Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) technology in a single catheter. NIRS provides chemical identification of lipid-core plaques through spectroscopic analysis, while IVUS offers structural information about vessel dimensions and plaque morphology. The system generates a chemogram displaying lipid content using a color-coded map, with the lipid core burden index (LCBI) quantifying lipid content within a region of interest. This combination enables comprehensive plaque assessment for both structural and compositional characteristics.
