Late lumen loss (LLL) is a quantitative angiographic measure used to assess restenosis after percutaneous coronary interventions, particularly important in drug-eluting stent research. LLL is calculated as the minimal lumen diameter immediately after stent implantation minus the minimal lumen diameter at follow-up angiography (typically 6-9 months). This measurement provides a continuous variable for assessing the degree of neointimal hyperplasia and vessel renarrowing over time. LLL values are typically reported in millimeters and serve as a surrogate endpoint for clinical restenosis, with lower values indicating better long-term vessel patency and reduced need for repeat revascularization.
