The WSRS is a photonumeric scale with grades from 1 (absent) to 5 (extreme), commonly used as a primary or secondary endpoint in clinical trials evaluating dermal filler and neuromodulator efficacy. It was developed to provide an objective, reproducible measure for wrinkle severity assessable by both clinicians and independent raters. Editors reviewing clinical study manuscripts must ensure that WSRS is defined on first use, that the scale direction (1 = absent, 5 = extreme) is clearly stated, and that percentage responder data are accurately reported relative to the scale. The acronym is always written in full capitals. It is distinct from the GAIS (Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale), which measures overall treatment satisfaction.
