The implant body, sometimes called the implant body or fixture body, is the threaded or non-threaded titanium or zirconia component placed directly within the alveolar or basal bone. It is designed to achieve osseointegration and bear occlusal forces transmitted through the prosthetic components above. Implant body geometry—including thread pitch, thread depth, and taper—affects both primary stability and the long-term distribution of stress to surrounding bone. Editors should distinguish 'implant body' from 'implant fixture,' which is the broader assembly term, and from 'abutment,' which connects the body to the crown.
