Peri-implant bone level refers to the position of the alveolar bone crest relative to a reference point on the implant—typically the implant shoulder or the implant–abutment junction—as measured on periapical or panoramic radiographs. Sequential bone-level measurements are the primary means of diagnosing and monitoring crestal bone loss. The hyphenated form 'peri-implant' is standard and should be consistent throughout a document. Bone level is commonly reported in millimetres.
