Endo-Perio Lesion
A pathological communication between endodontic and periodontal disease processes involving the pulp space and the periodontium of the same tooth.

Endo-perio lesions arise when endodontic infection spreads via lateral canals, dentinal tubules, or root fractures to involve the periodontal ligament, or when marginal periodontal disease progresses apically to affect the pulp. Classification systems (notably Simon, Glick, and Frank, 1972; updated by the 2017 World Workshop on Periodontitis) distinguish primary endodontic, primary periodontal, and combined lesions to guide treatment priority. Accurate editorial rendering requires a hyphen in 'endo-perio' when used as a compound modifier. Editors should ensure authors clearly specify lesion classification, as treatment sequence differs substantially between types.
