Full Definition

A family of instruments, most commonly the PCL-R (Psychopathy Checklist-Revised), used to assess psychopathic personality traits through semi-structured interview and file review. The assessment measures interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial features associated with psychopathy. In forensic settings, psychopathy scores are used for violence risk assessment, treatment planning, and parole decisions, though they cannot be used alone to determine criminal responsibility or competency.
