These tumors arise from the ductal epithelium and are typically associated with dense desmoplastic stroma that contributes to treatment resistance. PDAC is notorious for late presentation, early metastasis, and limited response to conventional therapies. The five-year survival rate remains below 10%, making it one of the most lethal solid organ malignancies. Molecular profiling has identified key driver mutations including KRAS, TP53, CDKN2A, and SMAD4.
