Surgical creation of a connection between the stomach and jejunum, bypassing the duodenum.
Full Definition
A surgical procedure that creates an anastomosis between the stomach and the jejunum portion of the small intestine. This procedure is commonly performed in cases of gastric outlet obstruction, as part of pancreaticoduodenectomy, or for gastric cancer treatment. The connection can be performed in an antecolic or retrocolic fashion, with the jejunal loop positioned either anterior or posterior to the transverse colon.
Usage
Usage note: Distinguish from gastroduodenostomy, which connects stomach to duodenum rather than jejunum.
