Full Definition
A specialized examination method where the clinician places one finger in the vagina and another in the rectum simultaneously to evaluate the rectovaginal septum, uterosacral ligaments, and posterior pelvic structures. This technique is particularly valuable in gynecologic oncology for detecting parametrial involvement, assessing tumor fixation, and evaluating the extent of pelvic disease. It provides crucial staging information that cannot be obtained through vaginal examination alone.
