The subluxation typically occurs toward the ulnar side with grip activities, causing pain, clicking, and functional impairment. Treatment may involve conservative management with splinting or surgical reconstruction of the stabilizing sagittal bands. Early recognition and appropriate treatment prevent progression to complete tendon dislocation and chronic dysfunction.
