Full Definition

The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis represents a complex feedback system controlling reproductive hormone production and sexual development. The hypothalamus releases GnRH, stimulating pituitary FSH and LH secretion, which in turn regulate gonadal hormone production (testosterone, estradiol, progesterone). This axis demonstrates intricate feedback mechanisms and is central to evaluating fertility, pubertal development, and reproductive disorders.
