Full Definition

The myopectineal orifice is the anatomical space bounded by the conjoint tendon medially, the iliopubic tract laterally, and extends from the midline to the anterior superior iliac spine. This area encompasses all potential sites of inguinal hernia formation including direct, indirect, and femoral hernias. During laparoscopic hernia repair, mesh is placed to cover this entire orifice to prevent hernia recurrence at any location.
