Triangulation is a fundamental principle of laparoscopic surgery referring to the geometric arrangement of the camera and working instruments to optimize surgical dexterity and visualization. Proper triangulation requires positioning ports so that the camera and two working instruments form a triangle, with the target tissue at the apex. This configuration allows for natural hand movements and bimanual coordination similar to open surgery. Poor triangulation can result in instrument conflicts, awkward positioning, and compromised surgical precision. The angle between instruments should ideally be 60-90 degrees.
