Complete response (CR) is the best possible response to cancer treatment, defined as the complete disappearance of all detectable disease as assessed by physical examination, imaging studies, and laboratory tests. This response category is part of standardized response criteria such as RECIST and indicates that no tumor is visible or measurable after treatment. However, complete response does not necessarily mean cure, as microscopic disease may still be present below the detection threshold of current diagnostic methods.
