BRVO

Full Definition

Branch retinal vein occlusion, a common retinal vascular disorder where a tributary of the central retinal vein becomes blocked. Typically occurs at arteriovenous crossing points and presents with retinal hemorrhages, cotton-wool spots, and macular edema in the affected quadrant. Risk factors include hypertension, diabetes, and glaucoma. May cause variable degrees of vision loss depending on macular involvement and development of complications such as neovascularization.
