Full Definition

Cerebral perfusion pressure represents the net pressure gradient that drives cerebral blood flow, calculated using the formula CPP = MAP - ICP. Maintaining adequate CPP (typically >60-70 mmHg) is crucial in neurocritical care to ensure sufficient oxygen and glucose delivery to brain tissue. Low CPP can lead to cerebral ischemia, while excessively high CPP may worsen cerebral edema.
