Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a non-invasive imaging technique that quantifies brain metabolites by analyzing their unique chemical shift signatures. Unlike conventional MRI which produces anatomical images, spectroscopy generates metabolic information about tissue composition, including levels of N-acetylaspartate, choline, creatine, and lactate. This technique provides valuable diagnostic information for tumor characterization, metabolic disorders, and treatment monitoring.
