In neuroimmunology, this analysis typically includes quantification of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, and various T-cell subsets including regulatory T cells (Tregs), Th1, Th2, and Th17 populations. CSF lymphocyte subset analysis can reveal patterns of immune activation specific to different neuroinflammatory conditions and help monitor the effects of immunomodulatory treatments. The technique provides insights into the cellular immune responses occurring within the central nervous system compartment.
