Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) is a closed-loop neuromodulation technology designed for patients with medically refractory epilepsy. The system consists of a cranially implanted neurostimulator connected to depth or subdural electrodes placed at the seizure focus. The device continuously monitors brain electrical activity and delivers brief pulses of electrical stimulation when abnormal patterns are detected, aiming to prevent seizure development or abort seizures in progress. This personalized therapy adapts to each patient's specific seizure patterns and brain activity.
