SSRI discontinuation syndrome refers to a constellation of physical and psychological symptoms that may develop within days of abruptly stopping or significantly reducing the dose of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Symptoms include dizziness, flu-like symptoms, sensory disturbances, sleep disruption, and mood changes. The syndrome is more likely with shorter half-life SSRIs and can be prevented or minimized through gradual dose tapering over several weeks.
