Leopold manoeuvres are a series of four abdominal palpation techniques performed in sequence to assess foetal lie, presentation, position, and engagement. Named after Christian Gerhard Leopold, these manoeuvres are typically performed from 36 weeks gestation onwards. They help determine if the foetus is vertex, breech, or transverse, and assess the degree of engagement in the maternal pelvis.
