MacRobert's manoeuvre is the first-line intervention for shoulder dystocia, involving hyperflexion of the mother's hips toward her abdomen while she lies supine. This position straightens the sacral curve and rotates the pelvis, effectively increasing the posterior pelvic diameter and facilitating delivery of the impacted anterior shoulder. The manoeuvre is named after the obstetricians who first described it and is often combined with suprapubic pressure.
