Ciliary body melanomas tend to have a more aggressive biological behavior compared to posterior choroidal melanomas and are associated with higher rates of extraocular extension and metastatic potential. Diagnosis typically requires multiple imaging modalities including ultrasound biomicroscopy and MRI.
