Circumscribed choroidal hemangioma is a benign hamartomatous vascular lesion that appears as a dome-shaped, orange-red mass in the posterior choroid. Unlike diffuse choroidal hemangiomas associated with Sturge-Weber syndrome, circumscribed hemangiomas are isolated lesions typically discovered incidentally or when causing secondary retinal detachment. On fluorescein angiography, they demonstrate rapid early filling and late leakage, while indocyanine green angiography shows early hyperfluorescence with washout. A-scan ultrasonography reveals high internal reflectivity, and MRI shows hyperintensity on T2-weighted images. Treatment is reserved for cases with symptomatic subretinal fluid and includes laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, or radiation.
