tumor-associated hemorrhage

Bleeding that occurs in conjunction with intraocular tumors, either as a presenting sign or treatment complication.

Full Definition

Hemorrhage that develops in association with intraocular malignancies, which may occur spontaneously due to tumor vascularity, following trauma, or as a complication of treatment procedures. The bleeding may be subretinal, vitreous, or choroidal depending on tumor location and type. Hemorrhage can obscure tumor visualization, complicate staging, and influence treatment decisions. In some cases, unexplained intraocular hemorrhage may be the presenting sign of an underlying malignancy.

Usage

Usage note: Document the location and extent of hemorrhage in relation to the tumor.
