Descemet's stripping refers to the controlled surgical removal of the innermost layer of the cornea (Descemet's membrane) along with the corneal endothelium. This technique is fundamental to endothelial keratoplasty procedures such as DSAEK and DMEK, where diseased endothelium is replaced with healthy donor tissue. The procedure requires precise technique to avoid complications such as incomplete stripping or inadvertent perforation of the anterior chamber.
