PERCIST

Also written as: PERCIST — PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors

Standardized criteria for assessing tumor response to therapy using quantitative PET imaging measurements.

Full Definition

PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors (PERCIST) provides standardized methodology for evaluating treatment response using quantitative positron emission tomography measurements. PERCIST criteria focus on changes in SUL peak (lean body mass-corrected SUV) in the most metabolically active tumor lesions, defining complete metabolic response, partial metabolic response, stable metabolic disease, and progressive metabolic disease. Unlike anatomic response criteria, PERCIST can detect metabolic changes that precede morphologic changes, potentially providing earlier indicators of treatment efficacy. The system requires rigorous quality control and standardized PET acquisition protocols.
